Meet Dr. Rupp
Dr. John F. Rupp received his Doctorate of Medicine from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his Dermatology residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. The last stop of his eleven years in the U.S. military was at The Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois, where he was Head of the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Rupp relocated with his family to the Kansas City area in 1998 and has been with Dermatology Specialists since 2001. Dr. Rupp has 33 years of dermatology experience.
Dr. Rupp is a Fellow member of the American Academy of Dermatology and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He is an active member, and past President, of the Kansas City Dermatological Society. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Kansas City Universities School of Medicine and Biosciences. He teaches medical students the art and science of Dermatology at his clinic. Dr. Rupp was selected as Top Doctor in Dermatology in the 2017 Leawood Lifestyles Magazine and was chosen as one of Missouri Magazine’s top doctors in Dermatology for 2020. He is also a member of the Leaders’ Society of the Dermatology Foundation.
Even though Dr. Rupp grew up in Ohio, he has been in Kansas City for 22 years and is solidly a Kansas Citian. He loves the activities that Kansas City has to offer, including its professional sports teams. He avidly watches Sporting KC and the Chiefs, and catches an occasional Royals game, a NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway and a summertime Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Dr. Rupp likes to unwind with art projects (mostly acrylic painting), keeping physically fit and spending time with his wife and two adult children.
